What We Believe
IPC NY acknowledges and accepts the Holy Scriptures as the revealed will of God, the all-sufficient rule
for faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining unity. The following statements, adopts the
fundamental truths:
1. The Scriptures Inspired:
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the all-sufficient rule for faith and practice, and
conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II
Peter 1:20-21)
2. The One True God:
The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM,”; and has further revealed
Himself as embodying the principles of relationship, association and as Trinity, i.e. as Father, Son, and
Holy Ghost (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:3,11; I Corinthians 8:6; Matthew 28:19; Mark 12:29)
3 .Man, His Fall and Redemption:
Man was created good and upright, for God said, “Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness”,
but man by voluntary transgression, fell and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, the son of
God, (Genesis 1:26-27, 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21); who was born of virgin Mary, (Mathew 1:20-23; Isaiah
7:14, 9:6) crucified and died for the sins of the whole world, buried and rose again, I Corinthians 15:3-
4,13-14; I John 2:2; He brews 10:10); and ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the
Father.(Hebrews 10:12-13)
4. The Salvation of Man:
(a) Condition to Salvation: The grace of God, which brings salvation hath appeared to all men, through
the preaching of repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ; man is saved by the
washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, and being justified by grace through faith, he
becomes heir of God according to the hope of eternal life.(Titus 2:11;3:5-7 ; Romans 10:13-15; John
3:5-9)
(b) The Evidences of Salvation: The inward evidence to the believer of his salvation is the direct witness
of the Spirit. (Romans 8:16) The outward evidence to all people is a life of righteousness and true
holiness.(I Peter 1:15-16)
5. Baptism in Water:
The ordinance of Baptism by burial with Christ should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures,
by all that have really repented and in their hearts have truly believed on Christ as Savior and Lord. In
doing so, they declare to the world that they have risen with Him to walk in newness of life.(Matthew
28:19;Romans 6:4)
6. The Lord’s Supper:
The Ordinance of Lord’s Supper, consisting of the elements – bread and the fruit of the vine, is the
symbol of expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ, a memorial of His suffering
and death, and a prophesy of His second coming, and is enjoyed by all believers “until He comes”(John
6:48,51,53-57; Luke 22:19-20; I Corinthians 11:23-26)
7. The Promise of the Father:
All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the
Baptism in the Holy Ghost, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Acts 2:4-5).
This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian church. With it comes the endowment of
power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry.(Luke
24:49; Acts 1:4-8; I Corinthians 12:1-31) This wonderful experience is distinct and subsequent to the
new birth.(Acts 2:38. 10:44-46)
8. The Evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost:
The full Consummation of the baptism of the Holy Ghost is evidenced by the initial physical sign of
speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, and by the manifestation of spiritual power in public
testimony and service. (Acts 1:8, 2:4,17, 10:44-46, 19:2,6; I Corinthians 12:10, 14:2-5)
9. Entire Sanctification:
The Scriptures teaches a life of holiness, without which none shall see the Lord. By the power of the
Holy Ghost we are able to obey the command. “Be ye holy, as I am Holy”. Entire sanctification is the
will of God for all believers, and should earnestly be pursued by walking in obedience to God’s Word. (I
John 3:3; Hebrews 12:14; I Peter 1:15-16; I Thessalonians 5:23-24). The Holy Scriptures, the Bible teaches to abstain from all kinds of unclean things and worldliness, all through their life upon earth, in body, soul, and spirit.
10. The Church:
The Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments
for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of
the Church, the body of Christ which are written, in heaven. (Ephesians 1:22, 2:19-22;
Hebrews 12:23). To be a member of this church, one must be born again, took believers water baptism, received spirit baptism, leading a Holy Life, and partaking in the Holy Communion. Also, He/She must abhor and forsake any and all kinds of adornments at any cost and must not follow any patterns and practices of this present world.
11. The Ministry and Evangelism:
A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for a two-fold
purpose:
(1) The evangelization of the world. (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19)
(2) The edifying of the body of Christ. (Mark 16:15; Ephesians 4:11-13)
12. Marriage:
Between one man and one woman, between believers; 2 Corinthians 6:14, Matthew 2:13-15, 1 Corinthians 7:2, Ephesians 5:25-26, Revelation 19:7-9, Revelation 21:1-2. We believe that marriage is the exclusive, covenantal union of one man and one woman, which union was designed by God. Genesis 2:24 states, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.” Jesus Christ affirmed this in Matthew 19:4-6: “And He answered and said, ‘Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.’ ” We will faithfully follow this scriptural definition of marriage in the teachings and practices of this church, and therefore, this church will not officiate, solemnize, perform or host a marriage or marriage-like ceremony involving anything other than the union of one man with one woman as instituted by God.
13. Divine Healing:
Deliverance from sickness is provided in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers. (Isaiah
53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; Mark 16:17-18)
14. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ – the Blessed Hope:
The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ, and their translated together with those who
are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, is imminent and is the blessed hope of the Church. (1
Thessalonians 4:16, 18; Titus 2.13)
15. The Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ:
The revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ from Heaven, the salvation of Israel, and the millennial reign
of Christ on the earth is the Scriptural promise and the world’s hope. (II Thessalonians 1:7; Revelation
19:11-16, 20:1-7)
16. The Lake of Fire:
The devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophets and whosoever is not found written in the book
of Life, shall be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake, which burnet with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death. (Revelation 19:20, 20:10-15)
17. The New Heavens and New Earth:
We, “according to His promise, look for the new heavens and a new earth where in dwelled
righteousness”. (II Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1)
